As part of our efforts to restore parts of the land back sympathetically with its past, we consulted historical maps which reveal a lot about how it was formally laid out and used.

Whilst the site is now in effect one very large field and one smaller one, once upon a time it was actually part of 6 fields. The historical maps are directly laid over very up to date Google Maps data so you can swipe to compare them with each other. We can also see that there appeared to be at least 4 ponds on the site and possibly more - the only remaining pond in Camps Copse is circled in green, two in red (one appears to be man made) and one in orange which we are considering resurrecting.
