Code of Conduct (Clause 35 of the Constitution)
1. General
Everyone involved with the Barby Woodland Trust (BWT) deserves to be treated with courtesy
and respect, whether this be trustees, volunteers, sponsors, contractors or visitors.
2. Trustees
Trustees of the Barby Woodland Trust need to:
(a) Be aware of their legal responsibilities under Charity Law and their duty to always act in
the best interest of BWT, declaring any conflicts of interest that may arise.
(b) Attend meetings of trustees whenever possible, and come to meetings with relevant
paperwork and prepared to make informed decisions on issues that arise.
(c) be reliable and punctual in carrying out tasks allocated to them by the committee of
trustees.
(d) Behave with courtesy toward each other and all those associated with BWT.
(e) Whenever possible, promote the aims and objectives of BWT in the wider community.
(f) Ensure the safety of all those using the woodland site and take steps to ensure that
they enjoy and benefit from the experience.
3. Volunteers
Volunteers play a vital role in the development and maintenance of the woodland site. While
taking part in any activities, volunteers are expected to behave in a sensible and responsible
manner, taking instructions from supervisors when required to do so.
4. Users
The trustees want all users of the woodland site to enjoy and benefit from doing so. Users
should:
(a) Respect all aspects of the woodland site, including trees, meadow land, water courses,
plants and wildlife.
(b) Avoid leaving litter and dog waste by taking this home.
(c) Follow signed trails and avoiding any areas that are restricted due to planting.
(d) Act with courtesy towards others that they may meet while visiting the woodland site.
