Pupils of Barby C of E Primary School plant our first new saplings
November 2023
On Thursday this week on a very crisp (but dry) day, 2 years after the idea of Barby Meadow Woods began and after many months of great work by our volunteers, we welcomed Barby CE Primary School to plant our first trees.
Each child and teacher planted a tree and they all have individual name tags on to identify them - hopefully we’ll see some parents visiting soon to take a look at what we’ve done. In this community area we planted wild cherry, crab apple, goat willow, downy birch, hawthorn, oak and small leafed lime.
This selection of trees will provide a very rich source of food and nectar to help improve the bio-diversity on site and bring in more insects, birds and mammals.
